AZIENDA AGRICOLA FIORANO:
ORGANIC AND PROUD OF IT...
AND - A GREAT AWARD WINNING OIL

We love Paolo and Paola's wines from Cossignano, in the lower part of the Marche (mar-kay), near Italy's central east coast. Their wines are 100% organic: exuberant, fresh, terroir-driven, honest. And, they are terrific values. From our almost direct imports work, we are happy to welcome these wines back with brand new vintages.

The Azienda Fiorano wines are gorgeous. Their work is peerless in respecting their land - the super steep hills, great plateaus rising here and there - in a perfect climate for grapes. If you find yourself in the Marches, you must consider staying at their self run Agriturismo - it is one of the most engaging, clean, peaceful and well run we've ever stayed at in Italy. Like their wines, they take very good care of you there. http://www.agrifiorano.it

All work at the winery and vineyards is done in concert with nature - as they refer to their farming, it is all “vini biologici naturali.” The vineyard work is all 100% organic, indeed beyond the standards set to qualify in Italy. On our now five trips to the winery, we have observed and learned about their rigorous commitment to non-intervention, to regenerating the soli and to maintain natural mico-zones for all of nature from the ground up. Oftentimes by comparison with wines from nearby, the Fiorano wines display a clarity and seamless qualities which separate them from the rest. And, the value is as good as it gets.

WORLD CLASS OLIVE OIL

And also from Fiorano: their wonderful Olive Oil. Have you had Marches Olive Oil? Organic Marches Olive Oil? Oh boy:

From our point of view, this is wonderful olive oil. Here is more from the folks of Fiorano:

This quality oil is produced exclusively from organic olives picked by hand on our AIAB and CPPB registered farm. The oil is a blend of several types of olive -leccino, frantoio, pendolino, sargano and Oliva tenera ascolana. These latter three types are authentic species from the Picenum province. Our 5 hectares of hillside is all limestone-clay soil and faces South-West. We have 1300 olive trees of 30 years in age. The oil displays a good “fruitiness” of medium intensity. To the nose and palate the oil has a hint of artichoke, freshly cut grass, tomato and almond. The aroma and taste are balanced and in perfect harmony. The oil is bottled without filtering but undergoes natural decanting. For this reason, the product may have a sediment of tiny particles of olive pulp.
